"When my classroom is darkest, I see the best."
Charles H. Spurgeon

Some days my feet are stuck in the muck and mire of this world.  Heavy lifting is needed to pull free from the pain, pressure and even the people around me.

Need seems to be everywhere.  And not simple stuff like laundry and meals and taxes.

But stuff that will not, can not, be fixed by me.

Deep intimacy with God is not quick.  It's not a 3 minute devotional or a 3 point sermon and a couple of worship songs...although those things serve great purpose.

It's time.

Time spent sitting and hearing from His heart.

The hearing part is the hardest.  We have so much chatter going on.  It takes practice to put it in its place.

Oh, and the sweet peace that will come when we persevere and wait on His words.

Words that will show the way.
Words that will plan the day.
Words that will point to the world that is waiting.
A place free from worry and pain and thoughts of gain.

Help us Lord, to do our day in a way that invests not just in the here and now, but the there and then.

The place with You that will last forever.

"Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup;
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance......
You have made known to me the path of life;
You will fill me with joy in Your presence,
with eternal pleasures at Your right hand."
Psalm 16:5-6, 11

The Lord's love and grace to you today,

  1. Hello Deb,

    I came across your blog today and it has blessed me so! I saw you liked the book "Come Away my Beloved"...I love it! It's those devotionals that bring me closer to Jesus and help me see Him and His Word in a much clearer way.

    I pray God blesses you greatly today!

  5. This post reminds me of something my pastor always said: "I don't want to be so heavenly bound that I'm no earthly good." It's a balance, isn't it? Thank God for His grace that helps us along the way!
