Unlimited Patience

We have a need so deep, so vast, so specific, that it can only be filled by One so divine, so holy, so righteous.

We are born with it and depending on our life circumstance, it may be known to us or it may not. And when our eyes are still closed to it, all of our efforts will go towards filling with self....

self-improvement
self-satisfaction
self-righteousness
self-focus
self-dependence.....

until the day comes when we have a choice to make. It might be in a foxhole or it might be on a mountaintop, but it will be ours and ours alone. And it will change the way we live out our days.

Do we live humbly, laying down our pride and pretense?

Or do we live haughty, wearing our arrogance like a shield? A cavalier attitude that when tested will come up short for sure.

It will come up short because we are not enough.

Nothing we have is enough.

Nothing we do is enough.

And if we think we are, even for a second, if we think that need doesn't exist in us because all is bright in our world and things are groovy and good for us, hang on. There will be a day when all of the bravado we have built, won't be enough.

Our pain will exceed our pride.

And as our knees touch the floor and our face falls into our hands, the cry of our heart can still be to Him.

Because He's waiting.

From Paul, an apostle of Jesus ....

"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on Him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen."

1 Timothy 1:15-17
