"Do you want to get well?.....Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." John 5:6-8
I'm pretty sure we all have a mat. It might be any wound or doubt or belief or unbelief that keeps us from walking. It might come from our own heart and mind or it might even be something someone else doesn't want us to forget.
"The Jews said to the man who had been healed, 'It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.'" John 5:10
In my chemo-mother-approaching senior brain, that mat is so many things to me. So many things that by the grace of God and the gift of His mercy, I have overcome. But here's the rub, I still find myself wanting to sit back down on it, going back to thoughts and ways of thinking that don't give witness to what He's done in me.
Doubting my healing.
"Jesus said to them, 'My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.'" John 5:17
Always, always at His work.
There is no room for doubt.
His grace and mercy are new every single morning...a fresh new day for new hope and new belief.
Oh, oh praise Him!

thanks Deb...picking up that Mat is really a thing sometimes...those old ways keep popping up for me, too...I know He's trying to teach me new things... "always at work"...but I have to get up and get going on it and get out of the "fear" of something different.
